Gaby Michel’s Delightful New Single with a Fantastic, Universal Message, “What Would Dolly Do?” is Out & Available Everywhere Online!
When the COVID-19 pandemic drove us into isolation, Gaby Michel had to rethink her entire Sunday school program to provide lessons for the kids in an entertaining way. There are no higher stakes for an artist than keeping an audience of children engaged when they would rather be playing video games!
In April of 2004, Gaby released her first CD. Within six-months of the release, she experienced a series of significant losses, including the death of her brother, her dear friend and her baby daughter. Gaby didn’t sing another note for 15 years.
What she never could have predicted, was how the new challenge of creating videos for her Sunday school class would lead directly to restoring the joy of making music nearly seventeen years after making her original debut.
Inspired like never before, Gaby used her time in quarantine to learn the ukulele, buy a microphone, teach herself to use new programs like GarageBand and Logic Pro and produce mini Sunday school lessons with music videos each week. As the year went on, for the first time in her life, Gaby started writing songs.
Seeking ideas for a song, Gaby noticed that her life-long inspiration, Dolly Parton was doing so much for others during this time of isolation. Dolly was reading children bedtime stories, she donated $1 million dollars toward research for the COVID vaccine, and she released an inspiring Christmas special. Gaby reflected on the fact that Dolly has always done the right thing and has consistently acted on behalf of the greater good. She came to the conclusion that the only thing in this divided world that we can all agree on is Dolly Parton. Gaby’s desire for a world with more people like Dolly was the impetus to write her first new song, “What Would Dolly Do?.” With her newfound creative flow, she hopes to make positive change in the world through her music.
“What Would Dolly Do?,” officially released in May of 2021, not only reminds us of a few of the gifts Dolly has given the world, but it calls on all of us to do better. An empowering, remarkably catchy song that’s filled to the brim with positivity, hope, love, and respect, Gaby’s powerful vocals in “What Would Dolly Do?” provide a spark of light & inspiration so sorely needed.
